Gibson and Landsdale are neighbouring areas east of downtown Hamilton. Together they run from Wellington Street east to Sherman Avenue, and from the rail tracks south to Main Street.
Residents share a neighbourhood association, the Gibson and Landsdale Area Community Planning Team, part of the City’s neighbourhood action plan. Gibson is named after Sir John Morison Gibson, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1908 to 1914.

Close to Downtown
The area starts at Wellington Street, on the eastern edge of downtown, and runs east to Sherman Avenue.
Hamilton General
Hamilton General Hospital is on Barton Street East at Victoria Avenue, within the area.
Community
The Gibson and Landsdale Area Community Planning Team works on local improvements as part of the City’s neighbourhood action plan.
Getting Around
Barton, Cannon, King and Main streets cross the area east to west. The planned Hamilton LRT runs through the lower city on Main Street, King Street and Queenston Road.
Older Homes
If you’re looking at an older home, ask about the wiring, plumbing and water service pipe. The City of Hamilton says about 20,000 Hamilton homes built before 1955 may have a lead water service pipe, and offers a free inspection and a replacement loan. Its Protective Plumbing Program offers a grant toward a backwater valve.
